MIDWEEK MINUTES December 12, 2015

Midweek Minutes
December 12, 2015
Hello, Winners!
I apologize for not being able to send out the newsletter yesterday.  That just goes to show you that technology, whatever device or system you’re using, has glitches.  I hope my email comes back up so that I can send  this out now!  Here’s my message that I hope to either send you or put on FB or both.
It’s a whole new ballgame for Weight Watchers’ Members too!  Weight Watchers’ new 2016 program Beyond the Scale has launched.  As with any changes, there are some things to learn.  Also, with new technology, there are frustrations.  Here’s a message from WW.  I hope it’s helpful to you.
Welcome to Beyond the Scale! We’re thrilled to share our new program with you.

If you aren’t seeing the new SmartPoints values right away, don’t worry. In order to give you a smooth transition into the new program, we’re holding off on switching you over to SmartPoints until your usual weigh-in day. (That’s the day that your old Weekly Allowance would have re-set.)

So what's new?
As you can probably tell, we’ve completely rebuilt the app and web experience. We’ve introduced a whole new design and updated functionality.
Our goal is to give you a program that is truly personalized and a big part of that involved completely dismantling our old technology and creating all-new digital tools. We’re laying the foundation for a completely transformational experience and we genuinely believe it will all be worth it. That said, we know that changes take time and may feel rocky at the start. Here’s where you’ll find the latest updates, tutorial videos to help you find your way around, and answers to questions about your new digital home.
FAQs
12/9 Updates:
You will need to upgrade your Weight Watchers Mobile App to the latest version to experience the new Beyond the Scale program. Your device must be upgraded to iOS 8. This means you need an iPhone 4S or iPad 2 or newer.
If you have an older phone or have trouble logging in, please log in through your web access. The new website is optimized for any mobile phone.
Change your weigh-in day: sorry, but this week you won’t be able to change your current weigh-in day, but you will be able to do this in the future. Stay tuned!
The SmartPoints values of some foods look strange and I’m seeing a grey bell symbol:
These are foods that miss certain nutrient information. If you add the additional nutrients needed, they will look fine.
Where is the Recipe Builder in the app? We are working on this, but in the meantime, while in My Foods, you'll see 'Create' in the top right corner. When you click on this, it will take you out of the app and bring you to WeightWatchers.com. We recommend building recipes on the web and you'll be able to use them on Mobile. Thanks for your patience!
Multi-add functionality: We are hard at work on this and trying to improve this feature.
Search improvements are coming! The team is working on personalizing your search experience so that your foods, the one's you've favorited and/or created will show up at the top of your results. This is coming, we promise! Also, on the WW Mobile app, you will soon be able to search within your Favorites. That search bar is coming soon!
I was able to customize my Daily PointsPlus® values in the past? With the SmartPoints plan we have optimized your daily and weekly SmartPoints according to your needs . This is why we discontinued this option.
Looking for your favorites? As you scroll down within your foods, or your favorites, you will see ‘More Results’ at the bottom. Click this and you will be able to see the rest of your list..
Weight Charts: Coming soon!
Message Boards: From the My Day tab, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Community on the bottom right. (Hint: Community might be hidden behind the 24/7 Chat Box. Shrink the Chat box by clicking the upper down arrow on the upper right of the box). Check out our video on how to do this:
Account Info: Find your Monthly Pass or Lifetime Membership vouchers and other account and billing settings by clicking the Profile icon on the upper right of the screen. Select Settings, then Account. Check out our video on how to do this:12/3 Updates:
Formerly logged Activity PointsPlus®values seem too high? You may see duplicate entries of activity entries in your historical log which could lead to Activity PointsPlus®values appearing too high. We have a fix in place and you should see this corrected shortly.
Activity device doesn’t appear to be syncing on my App? We’re exploring this issue but we've found a common cause is that an older Fitbit device is still connected to your Weight Watchers App. This may have happened if you purchased and started using a new Fitbit device and created a new Fitbit account, without disconnecting your previous Fitbit device from your WeightWatchers app. Please check to make sure your current Fitbit device is indeed synced to your current Fitbit account by looking at your Fitbit Account Settings. Then, disconnect and reconnect your Fitbit from the Weight Watchers app by going to More > Settings > Devices on the mobile app OR Profile>Settings>Activity on the website.
I’m trying to learn how to link or imbed videos into my newsletters.  I only did the basics this week because I have no way to check things until I send out the newsletter.  Be patient with me.  Perhaps that’s why I couldn’t send this yesterday.  Have no fear...I’ll figure it out.  That’s what’s such FUN about technology and new programs...it takes TIME to figure things out, and when we do, OH BOY, is it a VICTORY!!!  We can talk more in our meetings this week.  I hope the weather cooperates! See you then.  --Zig

WW EXTRA!  Watch the video below for some helpful tips
to learn how to customize your recipes!
It’s going to take awhile to gather recipes with the new Smartpoints...so please send me your recipes when you convert them!

Breakfast Casserole   ( 7 Smart Points (SP) per serving)
16 ounces frozen hash brown potatoes (I used O'Brien style)
        ·         ½ pound cooked turkey breakfast sausage
        ·         ¾ cup shredded reduced fat cheddar cheese
        ·         8 large eggs
        ·         ¾ cup milk
        ·         ½ teaspoon salt
        ·         ½ teaspoon pepper
        1.    Ideal Slow Cooker Size: 2 to 3-Quart

        2.    If it isn't already cooked, brown the sausage in a skillet.Drain and set it aside.
        3.    Grease your slow cooker.
        4.    Place one third of the frozen potatoes in the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with one third of the cooked sausage and one third of the cheese.
        5.    Repeat the layers two more times.
        6.    In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper.
        7.    Pour the egg mixture over the potatoes, sausage and cheese in the slow cooker.
        8.    Cover and cook on LOW for 4 or 5 hours or until the casserole is set in the middle and lightly brown around the edges.

        9.    Cut into 6 wedges to serve.
Potato-Cauliflower Soup
·         6 medium potatoes, peeled and chopped
·         10 ounces cauliflower (1/2 medium head)
·         1 large onion, chopped
·         2 stalks celery, chopped
·         1 carrot, peeled and chopped
·         5 cups chicken or vegetable broth
·         1 tablespoon parsley
·         ¼ teaspoon black pepper
·         ½ teaspoon salt, optional
·         12 ounces fat free evaporated milk

1.    Combine the potatoes, cauliflower, onion, celery, carrot, broth, parsley, salt and pepper in a crock pot. (I used my 4-Quart.)
2.    Cover and cook on LOW 7 to 9 hours, or until the potatoes are tender.
3.    Stir in the evaporated milk during the last hour.
4.    Enjoy as is or if you like your soup creamy you can puree it using a stick blender or potato masher right in the crock pot. Or you can puree all or part of the soup with a traditional blender. Do this carefully in small batches so you don't burn yourself.
5.    Taste it and add more salt and pepper if desired.    6 SP per 1 1/4 Cup serving

6
Balsamic Glazed Pork Tenderloin
Prep time 5 minutes, bake time 40-45 minutes.
2 1/2 pound Pork Tenderloin (usually 1 package that has 2 tenderloin strips in it; or mine did anyway)
1 TB olive oil
Herb de Provence, if you don't have this you can do a little Rosemary and Sage
Garlic Powder
Onion Powder
Salt and Pepper

Glaze:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 TB cornstarch
1/4 c. balsamic vinegar
1/4 c. water

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Season all sides of the tenderloin with Herb de Provence, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.  I didn't measure this out, I just sprinkled some of each and turned it over and sprinkled again (depends on if you like a lot of herb or not much...just go with your taste).
Heat oil in a dutch oven (or something that can go from stove to oven and has a lid) and brown all sides of the tenderloin strips.  Cover with dutch oven lid, place in oven and bake 30 minutes.  Meanwhile, in a sauce pan, combine glaze ingredients heat over medium heat until boils and thickens slightly.  When loin has been in for 30 minutes and reaches around 140-145 degrees F with a meat thermometer, take it out and brush with thickened glaze on all sides reserving some glaze to use as a sauce.  Put loin back in the oven for 10 minutes longer until 145-160 degrees F.  Take loin out and allow to rest 5-10 minutes.  Slice and serve with remaining glaze.  (I had to add a little more water to the glaze to loosen it up a bit to use as a sauce).
Smart Points Values: 3 oz of the cooked pork tenderloin is 2 SP, 1 TB of the glaze is 2 SP for a total of 4 SP for a serving.
