Hello,
Winners!
I guess I would be remiss if I
didn’t mention the volatile situations that exist in the U.S. right now.  If it
isn’t politics, it’s shootings, terrorist attacks, or extreme weather.  I send
prayers for all those affected by events this summer, whether or not they have
made national news, or if the events are personal.  Excluding natural disasters,
of course, if only our world could get
along?  If only we could make a wish, say a
prayer, snap our fingers, and make the world a better place.  Why can’t we do
that?  It won’t be a quick fix, but we can be hopeful.
Having said that, I know that
sometimes events and emotions can cause us to overeat, eat poorly, and throw our
weight loss priorities out of the window.  I am definitely not making light of
any of the events that have happened this summer (except maybe for the weird
politics), but there is a weight loss message here, folks.  We tend to turn to
food when we feel out of control. We come to Weight Watchers because we NEED
that accountability and the support of others to stay in
control.
"IF ONLY..."
On a lighter
note...wouldn't it be nice to make a wish, snap our fingers, say a prayer, and
have those extra pounds magically fall off? How many times have we wished for a
MAGIC PILL to lose weight easy and fast?  How many times have we come to Weight
Watchers...left...returned...left...returned...and didn't "GET IT"?  We have the
program...we have the tools...we have the support...it's all there...when will
it sink in that it's a LIFESTYLE change and not a quick fix?
I've been a leader
for 17 1/2 years...right after I got to goal AGAIN the THIRD time! My first
meeting was in Geneva.  It finally sank in then that it's MY CHOICE to change my
life.
Also, 12 years ago
THIS WEEK I took over as leader in Superior!  I was just looking through some
old emails and noticed that fact (somewhere in there we did a 3 year stint with
a Blue Hill Community meeting as well), AND the end of this month will mark 5
YEARS for me as a leader at the Hastings Center on Saturday mornings.  WOW!  I
have had such FUN over the years and changed my life!!! This last year has been
especially great as well because of Smart Points!
Where were YOU
last year in terms of your weight loss journey? Where are you THIS year? And
where do you want to be NEXT year? At our meetings, did we not talk about the
fact that there is NO MAGIC PILL for weight loss? Are you still thinking that
you are on a "diet", or are you making some permanent lifestyle changes that
bring you closer to your goals? Attendances are down in meetings over the summer
because of vacations and such, but some members have been missing A LOT of
meetings!  Do you want to have to start over in September?
We have six
weeks of summer vacation left before the school bells call. The second half of
the summer means GREAT veggies coming from our gardens! It means vacation time.
It means SIDEWALK sales! One of the pleasurable experiences I have is shopping
for clothing bargains for me. When I was 51 pounds heavier, I HATED wearing
shorts. I hated wearing bathing suits. I HATED having to show MORE of me in the
summer!
If you are at
a place in your journey where you WISH you looked like Suzy So-and-So in those
cutoffs, why not come to the WW meeting this week and get serious. Change your
WISH into ACTION! If not now, when?  Stop saying "IF
ONLY..."
See you
in the meeting room! –Zig

It's easy to get caught up in the numbers when you're weighing in
every week. You worked so hard! You want that scale to say your hard work is…
well, working.
But relying only on the scale for feedback can be iffy. If you didn't
lose or you gained, you might be unhappy—and even feel that you’ve had a
setback.
On the other hand…. If you put the scale in perspective—think of it
as just one (not always accurate) tool, one element of feedback—and focus on
your other positive actions, your weight-loss journey will feel a lot less
narrowly defined. As you discussed in your meeting this week—and had the chance
to outline in your Weekly , there are many stepping stones that form the path
to success. Tune in to other signs of progress and you’ll find more reasons to
celebrate—and that can help you succeed!
Maybe you've seen the #NSV hashtag on Connect (on the mobile app) It stands for “non-scale victories,” the small, everyday triumphs
that aren’t about pounds and ounces, but are about making healthy choices, doing
things you love, standing up for yourself—really, anything that helps you keep
moving in the right direction, even (especially) when the scale isn’t.
NSVs aren’t extras or consolation prizes. They’re what your hard work
is really about—and the numbers on the scale are the added bonus. Sure,
keeping track of the weight you’ve lost is an important part of following your
plan. But recognizing your progress in other areas is more likely to keep you
headed in the right direction.
Some non-scale victories that show how far you've come?
- Your clothes fit better.
- It's easier to walk up stairs and play with your kids.
- You have more energy.
- You can walk into the gym with confidence.
- You’re eating more vegetables and fresh fruit.
- Your blood pressure or cholesterol numbers are down.
It's important to recognize changes,
even if you consider them small as they are happening. You’re moving forward
with actions, attitudes, skills, and choices that will last you a lifetime at a
healthy weight. Focus on your NSVs and the pounds will take care of
themselves.

Hello Hastings
members,
We are currently recruiting
for a receptionist at the Hastings location.  To
be eligible to interview as a receptionist a member must have demonstrated
success on the program and achieved a 10% reduction from starting weight OR be
within BMI; 12 weeks of maintenance of the minimum 10 % loss (or remaining
within healthy BMI) are required.
I encourage you to go
to www.weightwatchers.com/job, enter your zip code and
complete an online application.  This is a no-obligation
way to get your name into the application system within Weight Watchers and you
will be contacted from your online application to answer any questions you might
have.
Please know that our
receptionists receive a lot of support—training that you are paid for, including
a both online training and in-meeting, hands-on training, and online access to a
special staff intranet with full program and meeting
resources.
We are looking for someone
with the ability to influence, motivate and inspire and who is able to
demonstrate inclusiveness, support and sensitivity.  Previous experience in
customer service is a plus.
Meetings are paid on a
base-rate + commission basis, with incentive to build the meeting to reach and
support more members.  Non-meeting work (such as training or meeting
preparation) is paid on an hourly basis.
In addition to the
satisfaction from helping others, other benefits include the ability to purchase
most meeting room products, snacks and tools for 50% off, ongoing free access to
eTools, and advance receipt/advance training of each year’s new
program.
Again, I encourage you
to apply.  If you know of other members
who meet the hiring criteria, please feel free to share this email with them and
encourage them to apply.
Also, if you aren’t already
on the Nebraska Weight Watchers Members Facebook page, you’ll want to join the
fun!  Just go to: https://www.facebook.com/
Thank
you,
Melissa
